Ok everyone, I been putting this off long enough. Back at the beginning of the year my friend and I were going to start a GSA (Gay-Straight Alliance) together but the school denied our request.
But yesterday I saw a movie on Lifetime called "Prays for Bobby" it was such a moving movie for me and made me appreciate my support from my family.
I don't want anybody going through figuring out that their gay to commit suicide because they feel like they don't have support or anything. I decided im going through with it and I WILL get our GSA to be approved.

Good for you! Keep pushing the matter, but make sure you are following the rules and protocol. See if you can find a teacher/coach/counselor to sponsor or support the group. Too many people out there feel alone and ostracized for being who they are. A good group can help support those needing others like themselves for support and friendship.

I thought you might like to check this out. According to your locality, the courts take past cases won seriously so you might like to follow the outcome of this allegation and look into the Okeechobee case. Even if you don't have the funds for legal fees, this could be discussed with your school regarding the compromise of your rights. They don't have to know you don't have an attorney at present, and it's possible to get in touch with organizations like the ACLU for legal backing if they refuse to allow the formation of a group at your school.
School sued for refusing gay-straight club ACLU files suit on behalf of Fla. students who wanted to promote tolerance
updated 7:34 p.m. ET, Tues., Feb. 10, 2009
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Two Florida high school students on Tuesday sued their school board because they were not allowed to form a club that promotes the tolerance of gays.
The American Civil Liberties Union of Florida filed the suit Tuesday in federal court on behalf of Yulee High School students Hannah Page, a freshman, and Jacob Brock, a junior.
The lawsuit claims violations of the First Amendment and the Federal Equal Access Act. The act requires schools to grant access and recognition to a Gay-Straight Alliance and other groups if the school allows any extracurricular group to meet on campus, said ACLU attorney Robert F. Rosenwald.
The lawsuit seeks a preliminary injunction to allow the club to meet at Yulee High while the case makes it way to trial.
Page said the group just wants to meet like others do.
"We just want the club so that straight and gay kids can get together to talk about harassment and discrimination against gay kids in an open environment. The school is discriminating against us and that's exactly the kind of thing we want to prevent," she said.
John L. Ruis, the school district's superintendent, said in a letter to Rosenwald that "a club highlighting sexual orientations will not be permitted as it would violate school board policy." The Nassau County School Board was served with the lawsuit.
The ACLU recently won a similar case in Okeechobee. A judge there ruled schools must provide for the well-being of gay students and cannot discriminate against the Gay-Straight Alliance.
